WHAT YOU'LL GET IN THE MUSIC READERS FORMULA TEACHER COURSE
You’ll gain access to six online training modules, where I will walk you through, piano lesson by piano lesson, how to teach every beginner to securely know four octaves of notes in the first year of lessons.
You’ll have indefinite access to the modules, so you’ll be able to go back over the material any time, as many times as you like.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE COURSE
In the Teacher Course, we’ll get right into the HOW.
We’ll get into how to use powerful teaching tools to successfully encode, into your beginner students’ minds, the knowledge of four octaves of notes, by building up a big mental image in their minds, like library shelves, into which to deposit all that information – that is, 31 notes on the staff, 31 note names, and 31 notes on the piano, that’s 93 pieces of information, all neatly deposited and connected together in the library shelves of your students minds. Wow! That’s so awesome!
And we’ll get into how to use powerful teaching tools, and Multisensory Learning, to keep those mental library shelves strong, and all the information securely stored in their minds. In the course I’ll teach you a tried and tested method that ensures that all that information doesn’t just evaporate away, but will remain securely stored in your students’ minds over time.
And I’ll show you how to use powerful teaching tools to take your students through to retrieval, so they become fast at going to those library shelves in their minds and able to directly and instantly retrieve that knowledge when they need it. When they see a note on the staff, they’ll be able to instantly recognize what it is, and know how it connects to its note on the piano – a crucial skill in reading music!
And I’ll show you how to bring all that work you’ve done at encoding, storage and retrieval through into your students reading of music, so they’re able to respond quickly to the cues of the notes in music notation, and easily able to read and play the music in their piano books.
The course will show you how to do all this by taking 5 steps in only 5 or so minutes each lesson, after which you can just carry on with the rest of your normal piano lesson. These “5 steps in 5 minutes” that I’ll show you will take your students through the Encoding-Storage-Retrieval-Notation process every lesson, and will result in the rest of the lesson being so productive, because now you’re working with a beginner student who’s becoming a strong music reader!
In the Course, you’ll see what to do in these 5 steps in 5 minutes demonstrated in REAL piano lessons, in a whole year’s worth of lessons. That’s right, you’ll see real beginners in real piano lessons, actually going through this process themselves. You’ll watch them going from zero – from absolute beginners – through to securely knowing four octaves of notes on the staff and piano. And you’ll see these beginners going from knowing nothing, to quickly being enabled to sight read the music in their piano books.
Watching this happening in real piano lessons will make it so easy for you to replicate it when you’re teaching your beginner students. And to make it even easier, you’ll get printable Action Guides, which give you all the detailed steps to take each lesson for the first 15 piano lessons.
Then for the lessons after that I’ll guide you through the system that I've developed to take your students through encoding, storage and retrieval every lesson, so that when they have music notation in front of them, all the hard work has been done, and reading music is easy for them. I call it this system the Magnet Moves Chart. It condenses the formula down to a “Cheat Sheet” which you can refer to while you’re teaching. Teachers tell me that they laminate the Magnet Moves Chart and even hang it on the wall of their studio!
In the course, we’ll also look more deeply into the psychology of learning and memory, and how the brain loves to learn. When we learn about this, we know how to make learning a pleasure for our students because we know how their brains love to learn!
In the course, I put you in the “learner’s seat” a number of times, so you can remember how it feels to be a beginner, and so that you can experience, as a beginner, traditional ways of teaching compared with ways of teaching that harmonize with how our brains love to learn.
You will be amazed at the difference, and you will be amazed at the capacity of your own brain to take in and retain a lot of information quickly and effortlessly when your brain is taught in ways that it loves!
Once you know this and experience it, it really changes how you teach your students. You’ll understand how their brains really love to learn, and you’ll know why traditional methods are often unsuccessful. FINALLY, you'll find the “ON SWITCH” - for how to turn your students’ brains ON, into AMAZING LEARNING MACHINES!
